What is the Sheffield Takeover?

Sheffield Takeover is a city wide skill competition taking place in Sheffield (the clue is in the name) on the 23rd and 24th of July. There have been 100 challenges set throughout the entire city, and athletes will have 2 days to complete as many as possible

Their will be a very wide range of difficulty for the challenges so that the competition is as accessible as possible to people of all skill levels, the challenge map will have them colour coordinated to show a rough indication of their difficulty level so that you can easily find the challenges you believe you are capable of.

We have a men's and women's division for the event with equal prize money and the prize money will increase for both divisions based on total ticket sales. The prize pool will be split between 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place and the prize pool will increase by £50 for each division at 25 tickets sold and will continue to increase by £50 for every 5 tickets sold after that.

Because it is a 2 day event you will be able to sleep at NovaCity on the Saturday night, but this is optional and if you would prefer to arrange your own accommodation you can do. It is about a 20 minute drive from Sheffield to our Rotherham venue, or you can get the train and tram from Sheffield to Rotherham station and it is a 15-20 minute walk from their to our venue.

How will it work?

On the Saturday we will be meeting outside Sheffield train station from 1:30pm and the competition will officially start at 2pm, don't worry if you turn up late you can still take part, but you will be at a slight disadvantage. we will share a challenge map with everyone who has signed up and this map will have a pin for every challenge we have set along with a description and a photo of the challenge.

You can move around the city at your own pace and can go to any challenge in any order you want to, when you complete a challenge film yourself doing it and upload it to your Instagram stories and tag either @novacitycentre, @_adamdore, or @liamnorbury (or all 3) so that we can see the challenge being completed, we will be monitoring our Instagram throughout the 2 days to update the scores. We will also ask for everyone's instagram handle before the event starts so that we can ensure that nothing gets missed. This does mean you will need access to Instagram throughout the 2 days, if this is going to be an issue then let us know and we will discuss an alternative way of you informing us of which challenges you have completed.

At 8pm on Sunday (subject to change) the competition will end and we will all meet again to do a final score check and announce the winners of the competition, we will also draw the raffle at this point. Scoring is very straightforward, each challenge is worth 1 point and whoever has the most points wins.

Want to support the event but can't attend/don't want to compete?

We have had a few donations to the prize pool from members of the parkour community who are unable to attend or aren't interested in competing. If you would also like to donate anything get in touch with us and we can discuss it further. Donations are hugely appreciated but are of course optional, just by attending the event or sharing it on your social media you are already supporting it more than enough.

If you have any questions about the event let us know and we'll do our best to answer them.
