Performing Arts Summer Camp 

Join us this summer in partnership with Nova Arts to get a glimpse of professional performing arts training.

The programme is fully funded, meaning there is no cost to participants.

The programme is split over 4 weeks during the summer holiday, with sessions split based on age. 

Sessions run 10 am - 1 pm each day.

Young people participating in the programme will get to experience all areas of performing arts. Singing, Dancing, and Acting.

Training will be provided by Nova Arts graduates. 

​

At the end of the programme, all participants will have a chance to perform on stage at the Lamproom Theatre in front of friends and family. 

The programme is designed so that attendance in all 4 sessions for your age category is preferred, as we will be building the performance from day 1. 

Spaces will be strictly limited and delivered on a first-come, first-served basis.

What Clothing shall I wear?

Please dress appropriately - loose-fit clothing, trainers, layers.

Are meals provided?

Please bring a packed lunch. The NovaCity Cafe will be open for snacks during breaks.

Are there space limits? 

Class capacity is as follows

4 to 7 years = Max spaces 15

8 yrs + = Max spaces 20

Two coaches + a manager will be present throughout the programme

Do I have to perform on stage? 

No, performance is not compulsory; however, the programme is designed with the end performance in mind, so it would be a shame to miss out. Our aim is to give you the confidence to perform and celebrate your achievement. The performance pieces will be short.

Do I need any experience? 

The programme is open to all young people in Barnsley. Being from Barnsley is the only qualification needed. The training will be appropriate for beginners, but also push those who already have experience. 

​

What if I miss a session?

Missing a session for an emergency or illness is acceptable, and we will do our best to get that day's work to you so you can practise before the next session. If you miss multiple sessions, adaptations will have to be made for the performance

​

Are there any costs? 

No, there are no costs for participants. Tickets to the show are also FREE for friends and family

​

Photography and Film

Cameras will be present at all sessions and at the performance. At Nova, we aim to be as inclusive as possible and respect that young people may not be allowed/not want to be recorded. A large part of this programme is that we can celebrate the achievements through online promotion, and we feel in this circumstance, it would be unreasonable to guarantee that specific children won't be recorded, especially during the public performance, at the theatre, where families are attending.
